Belton School District: State and National Schools of Character

When students feel safe, engaged, and respected, they can focus on their academic goals. Effective character educators ensure that these needs are met. Character education is the foundation upon which students can reach academic achievement. On a daily basis, staff inspire, engage, and empower their students to be their best and expect the best in others. Six of our schools (Grace Early Childhood Center, Mill Creek Upper Elementary, Wilckens STEAM Academy @ Hillcrest, Kentucky Trail Elementary, Cambridge Elementary, & Belton Middle School) are State and National Schools of Character.

    Instructional Coaching

Belton staff have instructional coaches and educational technology specialists available PreK-12 to support their teaching and learning.  The coaches have expertise in curriculum, classroom management, literacy at all levels, and content-specific support.  The educational technology specialists assist with technology integration, digital citizenship, and more.

    1:1 Technology

We are proud to be a district where each child and staff member are issued a device to communicate, create, and collaborate, as well as have access to many other innovative teaching and learning tools.

    Social Emotional Support Systems
Since 2010, the Belton Educational Foundation has earned grants bringing 7 licensed therapists who support our students and families. The District has 13 licensed counselors ready to assist students with their mental health, social skills, career investigations, and more.

Small Town Feel with Big City Connections

The Belton School District is located just outside the I-435 circle surrounding Kansas City, Missouri. While the city is in Cass County, it is a quick 15-20 minute drive to downtown KC and several other locations around the area.  Belton School District has the best of both worlds -- the chance to be a part of a community with that "Friday Night Lights" feel, and a quick drive north gives you access to big city amenities.
One of the biggest advantages Belton School District offers young educators entering the workforce is the opportunity to continue your academic career while working in the classroom setting.
