BHS Clay Target Team

    The Belton High School Clay Target Team continues to make strong showings and all of us proud to be Pirates.

    They had a team qualify for Nationals through the USA High School Clay Target League with 5 student-athletes and 2 reserves who qualified for the National Varsity team:

    • Sophomores CJ Bosler, Alex Hill, Mitchell O'Reilly
    • Freshmen Ava Chevalier, Logan Pinkham
    • Sophomores Kai Montgomery, Andrew Tran (reserves)


    Bosler, Chevalier, Hill, Montgomery, O'Reilly, and Pinkham also qualified for the USA High School Clay Target League Individual National Shoot.

    Sophomore Mitchell O'Reilly also earned First Team All-State Honors for Trap.

  • High School Clay Target League National Championship

    Our BHS clay target team earned 120th place out of 1,311 teams in the league. 

    C.J. Bosler, Ava Chevalier, Alexander Hill, Kai Montgomery, Logan Pinkham and Mitchell O’Reilly qualified for and competed in the Individual National Tournament. 

      • Mitchell O’Reilly: 227th in the male division
      • Alexander Hill: 1,141st
      • Ava Chevalier:  8th in the female division
      • C.J. Bosler: 774th
      • Logan Pinkham: 1,448th 
      • Kai Montgomery: 1,476th


    On July 10, Chevalier and O’Reilly competed in the championship round. 

      • Ava Chevalier: 313th overall and 23rd for the female division.
        Chevalier is the only female Missouri athlete to make it this far. 

      • Mitchell O’Reilly: 348th overall and 323rd for the male division.
        O'Reilly is one of only three male Missouri athletes to make it this far.

  • Each team member will need access to a 12- or 20- gauge sporting (no tactical) shotgun with a recommended barrel length of 26" to 32."  It is also recommended to have various choke options.  Any type of action is permitted as long as the shotgun can be locked open. Participants will also need a shell holder capable of holding a box of 25 shells. 
     
    All participants must have either a Missouri Hunter Education certification or complete the online course provided by Missouri High School Clay Target League and be able to display safe gun handling procedures during range safety orientation day.
