Torrence Allen Named the next Director of Finance and Support Services

During its closed session, the Board of Education approved Torrence Allen as the next Director of Finance and Support Services.

Mr. Allen is following Dr. Bob Poisal, who is retiring at the end of the 2024-25 school year after 12 years as Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Support Services and 22 years of service in the Belton School District.

Mr. Allen has been in education for 28 years. He started his career as a substitute teacher and coach in the Kansas City, Kansas School District before becoming a teacher at Sumner Academy of Arts & Science. He has served as the assistant principal and principal at Ruskin High School. Mr. Allen has been the Belton High School Principal since 2022. He currently serves as President of the Greater Kansas City Missouri Principal Association, and is a Kansas City, Kansas School Foundation for Excellence Reasons To Believe 2024 honoree.

Mr. Allen says he is looking forward to much in this new role: "I am excited to uphold our established tradition of excellence and collaborate closely with our various departments, building leaders, community organizations and vendors to advance student achievement and our district's initiatives."

Mr. Allen earned his education specialist degree from Arkansas State University, his master's degree from Emporia State University and he has a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
