Community Advisory

We believe that a strong school district is built on a foundation of open dialogue and active partnership with the community.Your input is essential in crafting our schools into the flagship for innovation. Our ongoing challenge is to translate the community’s vision for education into fiscally sound and responsible recommendations. To that end, we are committed to keeping communication channels open, providing regular updates on our progress and actively soliciting your assistance and feedback as we move forward together.

The BSD #124 Community Advisory Committee is responsible for:

• Providing feedback on District programs and initiatives
• Making recommendations in support of enhancing learning opportunities and environments
• Advocating for issues vital to the success of schools, youth and families

Community Advisory Group Application

Group Criteria

Any Belton community member, school district staff member, district parent or student may apply to be part of the Community Advisory Committee. The committee will meet 2 times in the spring semester of the 2025-26 school year, and members must commit to attending all meetings to be admitted. Membership will be capped at 50, and selection among applications will be based on these criteria: 

1. Overall balance of representation from all schools with a mix of staff, parents and community members.
2. Quality of answers provided to the application questions.
3. Past volunteer experience.
4. Overall balance of demographic diversity, gender diversity, etc.
5. Knowledge and/or experience unique to the responsibility of the committee.
6. Individuals with different perspectives and expertise.
7. Individuals of the highest integrity that have an inquiring mind, a willingness to ask hard questions and the ability to work well with others.

The open application process to repeat in summer 2026 for the 2026-27 school year. All members will be required to resubmit an application to continue serving on the Community Advisory Committee.
