Welcome! The mission of Belton School District #124, as a proud reflection of our community, is to inspire and empower all students to reach individual potential by providing learning experiences that challenge and engage within a safe, supportive environment designed to prepare students to thrive and excel.
Be with us at HOME (Distance Learning) Pirate Families Only
We want to be sure your child who is learning with us at home is ready to start school on August 24th, and we have 2 opportunities scheduled for you to come to pick up a device.
Please stop by the Yeokum Center of Innovation on either Thursday, August 20th, and Friday, August 21st between the hours of 11 am - 7 pm. Yeokum is located at 613 Mill Street, just south of Grace Early Childhood Center.
Please pull up to the north entrance awning and have a sign in your dashboard with your children’s names written clearly and large enough for the tech staff to read. Please also include the child’s grade on the sign. If you have multiple children, you can put all names/grades on one sign.
You will not need to leave your vehicle, but for security reasons, we will ask to see some form of ID to verify you are the parent/guardian of the child receiving the device. Students in 8-12th grade will need to sign in to the device before leaving the pickup location to ensure they are able to log onto our systems. If your child is a licensed driver, they may come to pick up the device on their own (ID required).
9-12th Grade: If your 9-12th grade student already has their district-issued device from the 2019-2020 school year, you do not need to attend this event.
8th Grade: If your 8th grader still has their district-issued iPad, please bring to this event to exchange for a MacBook.
Hillcrest 2-6th grade: If your 2nd-6th grader still has their district-issued device from the 2019-2020 school year, please bring it to this event to exchange for an updated one. Hillcrest first graders were issued updated devices as kindergarteners and do not need to attend this event.
K-2nd grade students will be issued an iPad in an Otterbox case and a cable/charger.
3-7th grade students will be issued an iPad in a case, a keyboard, and a cable/charger.
8-12th grade students will be issued a MacBook in a case and a cable/charger.
BSD Return to School Plan
The Belton School District collected feedback on the Return to School plan from families and staff. That feedback has been reflected in several components of the plan. As more information comes from DESE, the CDC, as well as state and local health agencies and levels of government, this plan may have changes and updates. As those happen, we will continue to notify families and staff so they can stay aware.
- Keeping students and staff as physically safe and emotionally healthy as possible
- Ensuring access and equity for all students
- Communicating with stakeholders, such as staff, families, and community partners
- Ensuring flexibility to meet the social, emotional, and learning needs of all students, while maintaining fiscal responsibility
- Supporting readiness and progress in teaching and learning whether in person or at a distance
Although we are proud of the success of our Distance Learning during the spring closures, we recognize the importance of bringing our students and staff back together as soon as possible. We miss our students, and we miss each other. We will continue to monitor and receive feedback from students, parents, and teachers to guide us in improving and refining our Distance learning program.
During enrollment, parents had the option to select for their child to Be with us HERE for 5 days a week learning on campus or Be with us at HOME for distance learning 5 days a week. As of August 7, 2020, 65% of our Pirates have opted to learn with us HERE on campus and 35% opted to learn with us at HOME.
