Attendance

The State Accreditation Standards require the District to maintain excellent daily attendance. Students who fall below the 95% level may be asked to make up time to meet the standards. Students who are not in school miss essential information and life skills that can limit their success in school and later in the workplace. Developing good attendance habits is a primary concern for our schools and the state of Missouri. While we encourage and expect regular attendance, please keep your children home if they have:
- Fever
- Enlarged or Swollen Glands
- Sore Throat
- Inflamed or Infected Eyes
- Nausea or vomiting
- Persistent or Deep Cough
- Diarrhea
- Lice – live bugs
Children must be fever-free (no greater than 100.4 degrees F) without medication for 24 hours. More information about the Health Attendance Policy can be found on our Health Services page.
When you must keep your child home from school, call the school office by 9:00 am to report the absence. This allows the school personnel to be informed as to your child’s recovery and helps to ensure your child’s safety.Attendance will be marked as excused or unexcused based on parent contact and reasons for absences. Excused absences are defined as an illness, severe illness and/or injury; religious observances; or visits with a parent or legal guardian who is an active duty member of the military who has been called to duty for, is on leave from or is immediately returned from deployment to a combat zone or combat support posting, with permission of the superintendent or designee. Medical absences require a doctor’s excuse.Notifications will be mailed home according to the District Attendance Procedures.
