A Continuum of Reopening Scenarios

  • We need a flexible response plan to keep schools open due to the multiple scenarios created by the global pandemic. The scenarios below present the opening options of schools that move from least restrictive to most restrictive and include a model to address rolling closures that may occur based upon disease exposure in our school community upon opening.

As more information comes from DESE, the CDC, as well as state and local health agencies and levels of government, this plan may have changes and updates. As those happen, we will notify families and staff so they can stay aware.

Scenario 1: Routine Operations Normal Operations & Instruction, All Students & Staff Attend, Normal Activities Resume, In-person Instruction Provided to All Students, Routine Mitigation, Normal Schedule, No Masks Needed

Scenario 2: Modified Operations & Instruction (Parents select In-Person or Virtual Learning for their children) Social distancing measures along with required masks in place, School buildings open with limited access, Masks (cloth face coverings) required for all staff and students.

Scenario 3: Distance Learning Plan Restricted Operations & Instruction, No In-Person Learning, School Buildings Closed, All Instruction Provided Online or Via Alternate Methods, Closure Operations/Protocols in Place. Depending upon circumstances, certain staff may still have access to buildings.

Scenario 4: Rolling Closures Affected classrooms or schools are closed due to extensive COVID exposure based on guidance & recommendation. Custodial staff conducts deep cleanings. District Nurses collaborate with the Cass County Health Department on contact tracing, support, and reopening processes. All instruction provided will be online/alternative methods of instruction.

    • Scenario 4 could also be activated when school is canceled for inclement weather.
