Who Do I Ask?

  • If you have questions about your child's education, here's a list that should help guide you on knowing who to ask for assistance, support, and clarification.

    General Education Teacher:  Curriculum, grade level expectations, grades, homework, day to day questions, accommodation and plan implementation

    School Counselor: Social-emotional needs, post-high school planning, community resources

    School Nurse: Medication needs and health plans

    Special Education Teacher: IEP, specific goal data and progress, plan implementation, accommodations

    Special Education Case Manager: Goal progress, plan creation, IEP and reevaluation meetings

    Related Service Providers (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Vision Therapy, etc): Contact special education case manager for support

    Paraprofessional: Plan implementation, accommodations, data collection -- their primary role is to keep the special education teacher informed

    Process Coordinator: Special education process, timelines, IEP, evaluation, manifestation determination

    Principal: Discipline, teacher or paraprofessional concerns, general building concerns

    Director of Special Education: Law, policy, procedure, special programming
