In the Belton School District, we recognize consistent access to food and appropriately fit clothing can be a hardship for families in our community. Therefore, we are happy to share the resources we have in our buildings, as well as links to resources in the area.
Belton High School and Belton Middle School each have a Pirate Pantry stocked with food and personal care items for students who are in need. Mill Creek Upper Elementary has a Pirate Pantry, as well as a closet of clothing items for students. Families with elementary-aged students can apply with their school counselors to receive a "backsnack" filled with food before each weekend. Many of these initiatives are supported by donations to the Belton Educational Foundation. School counselors at all levels are a wonderful asset to our district and can provide families with items they may need, or refer them to external sources for more assistance.
If you are able to donate to the Pantry, please contact the Foundation at the link above. Here's a list of what they can use...
Food Items needed:- Peanut butter and jelly
- Canned meals such as ravioli, SpaghettiOs, etc. (NOT canned vegetables, please)
- Granola/protein bars and protein shakes
- Individually boxed cereal (gluten-free welcomed!)
- Macaroni and cheese
- Microwavable and non-refrigerated meals
- Pasta dishes
- Shelf-stable pudding cups and fruit cups
- Shelf-stable milk
- Ramen noodles
- Canned meat (chicken, Vienna sausages, no tuna)
- Juice boxes and bottled water
Clothing items needed (new only, please):
- Underwear
- Shoes
- Socks
- Pants
- Lightweight jackets
