It’s fun, and it’s free!

Parents As Teachers is a voluntary early-learning program for parents with children birth to kindergarten age. It is based on the belief that parents are their child’s first and most important teachers. The goal of Parents As Teachers is to help all parents give their children the best possible start in life.

Vision:

All children will learn, grow and develop to realize their full potential.

Mission:

To provide the information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.

Program Services:

  • Personalized home visits by a certified parent educator specially trained in early childhood development.
  • Group Meetings with other parents to share experiences, gain new insights, and talk about topics of interest.
  • Planned parent-child activities which incorporate fun with hands-on learning.
  • Yearly developmental screenings, including hearing & vision, for your child. The goal is to provide early detection of potential problems and to prevent learning difficulties, later.
  • Community Resource network to provide families with needed resources and services outside the scope of the PAT program.
  • SB6 Resource Center is under the direction of the PAT program to ensure that all families have access to free educational materials to check out for their children.
